Chiang Mai Heritage Area (Property)

The Chiang Mai Heritage Area (Property) consists of the inner city area-outer area, Wiang Suan Dok, Doi Suthep-Pui National Park, Wiang Chet Lin and Suthep Road connecting the city to Doi Suthep, a total area of 18.03 square kilometres. 

The Heritage Area Boundary was considered and established according to the Old City Area Boundary defined in 2010 by the Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning (ONEP), Conservation Area Boundary for Promotion of Creative and Cultural Identity in accordance with the Chiang Mai City Comprehensive Plan 2013, Doi Suthep Walking Route (pilgrimage route, past and present), Chiang Mai Watershed Boundary, and Doi Suthep-Pui National Park Boundary.

Buffer Zone

The Buffer Zone consists of the Doi Suthep-Pui National Park area and area encompassing Chiang Mai Old City, a total area of 183.12 square kilometres.

Scope of the Buffer Zone was considered and established according to the Doi Suthep-Pui National Park Boundary, Chiang Mai Municipality, and the City Planning Area for Chiang Mai City 2013 (Super Highway – Ring Road 1).
